Just as we spend hours looking for the best dates and seasons to visit a country or city, why wouldn't we do it at the time of getting married?
What a thrill it is to see the day unfold as you planned it from the beginning and that the weather and the season are as you expected it. And this is where we come in, to guide you in choosing the perfect season for your wedding in Barcelona - or surroundings.
So, shall we talk about the weather?
Before focusing on each season, perhaps it would be important to start by defining when is the high season for weddings. Well, we can say that from May to October, which are precisely the months with the best temperatures.
Coincidence? We don't think so.
Barcelona and its surroundings offer a vibrant setting to celebrate your love. But, you should be careful with the months of July and August, where high temperatures can make you sweat more than necessary, easily exceeding 30 Celsius degrees daily.
Think that last year the news was the day when we did NOT exceed 30 Celsius degrees, so maybe it would be important to evaluate to what extent you prefer to have more fans than guests.
So, let's break it down season by season, mentioning its strong points and some not-so-good tidbits, in order to help you make a better choice.
With spring comes the promise of sunny days without the sweltering heat of summer. The fields are dressed in green, and everywhere you look you see nothing but vibrantly colored flowers.
In addition, wedding vendors are fresh and ready for action as they prepare for the start of the season.
Although, as the Spanish saying goes, “en Abril, aguas mil”, or in English, April showers bring May flowers, so watch out for the rains! They can be an unexpected guest.
And if you decide to have an evening wedding, early spring may not yet be the best season for an outdoor banquet.
Ah, summer! The days are getting longer, the light is endless, and the gardens are overflowing with flowers. It is the perfect time for an outdoor wedding under the warm Mediterranean sun. Ideal time to celebrate your wedding in the afternoon.
But be careful! As we mentioned at the beginning, the heat can take its toll and prices tend to rise due to high demand.
We always recommend that, if you want to get married in summer, book as far in advance as possible.
When autumn arrives, the temperatures become milder again (finally a break!) and the landscapes are tinged with warm, golden colors. Fewer people, fewer crowds and it is still possible to enjoy nature outdoors, especially at the beginning of the season.
However, rain and increasing popularity can be a hindrance.
As the good temperatures are lengthening, October is gaining popularity as a wedding month, very important to keep this in mind.
If you love winter, this is your time! Intimate weddings, flickering candles and a cozy atmosphere are the hallmark of this season. A big plus is the price difference you can find compared to summer. So if you love cold temperatures, go for it!
But be prepared for the cold, the short days and the high probability to end up making the back-up plan your plan A in case of bad weather. It's a good idea to plan from the beginning an indoor banquet, so the weather won't surprise you, and you can play with the windows and lighting.
However, be careful with the holiday season and your guests' pre-established plans.
In short, in Barcelona and Catalonia each season has its charm and its magic. Fortunately, we have fairly mild temperatures most of the year. Choosing the perfect season will depend on your preferences and the atmosphere you want to create on your special day.
Love always finds its perfect moment!
If you still have a hard time deciding, think about what colors you want in your wedding photos: oranges and browns? Greens and navy blues? Let the beauty of each season call to you.
So, which team are you from: summer, fall, winter or spring? Whatever your choice, we are here to accompany you every step of the way.
